Taiwan coach directly points out the reason for defeating the Vietnam team

Coach Prasobchoke Chokemor assessed that the scorching weather was one of the elements causing the Vietnam women's team to suffer a loss.

Coach Prasobchoke Chokemor believed that the hot weather was one of the reasons causing the Vietnam women's team to lose focus, leading to errors in the only conceded goal during the match with the Chinese Taipei women's team in the 2026 Women's Asian Cup group stage.

Speaking after the 1-0 victory at Perth Rectangular Stadium (Australia) on March 7 afternoon, the Chinese Taipei coach still expressed respect for the opponent. He affirmed that the Vietnam women's team is a well-organized collective and always very difficult to defeat.

“The weather today was quite hot, and that affected both teams. The Vietnam women's team is a strong collective, playing very systematically and with good organization. They have participated in the World Cup, so clearly they are a very difficult opponent to defeat.”, Coach Prasobchoke Chokemor shared during the post-match press conference.

According to this strategist, the harsh playing conditions caused the Vietnamese players to lose focus at times, creating opportunities for Chinese Taipei to capitalize on. “I think the heat made the Vietnamese players lose concentration at moments, and that was the reason for their only conceded goal.”, he added.

The match took place at 13:00 local time when the temperature in Perth exceeded 35°C. Although referee Lara Lee paused the match between halves for players to hydrate, the weather still posed many difficulties. In the first half, midfielder Duong Thi Van suffered cramps and required medical team assistance.

The only goal came from an attack on the left flank by Chinese Taipei. Matsunaga Saki's shot hit the crossbar and rebounded, before Su Yu Hsuan quickly rushed in to follow up and score. This victory helped Chinese Taipei rise to second place in Group C and only needs a draw with India in the final round to secure a spot in the quarter-finals of the 2026 Women's Asian Cup.
