Former U23 Vietnam goalkeeper reveals how he helped Da Nang hold Ninh Binh

Former U23 Vietnam goalkeeper Nguyen Van Toan played brilliantly with several important saves, playing a key role in helping SHB Da Nang hold Ninh Binh to a draw and earn a precious point in the survival race.

Goalkeeper Nguyen Van Toan had an impressive match with consecutive saves, contributing significantly to SHB Da Nang's 1-1 draw against Ninh Binh Club away. After the match, the 1999-born keeper couldn't hide his joy as his teammates brought back a valuable point in the relegation fight.

Against a highly-rated opponent, SHB Da Nang entered the match facing many difficulties. The Han River team even had to use all three substitution rights within the first 20 minutes due to injuries. Nevertheless, the players fought determinedly to secure a point.

Sharing after the match, Van Toan said he was very happy to contribute to the team achieving its goal. “Currently, I feel very happy because I helped the team get 1 point against Ninh Binh, a very strong team,” the SHB Da Nang goalkeeper said.

In the second half, Van Toan became a solid backbone for the defense with consecutive crucial saves, helping the visiting team withstand heavy pressure from the hosts. According to this goalkeeper, the early substitutions made the match particularly difficult for the whole team.

“This match was truly very difficult for Da Nang. Within just the first 20 minutes, we had to use all three substitution rights, so everything became even more pressured. But the teammates played with all their strength and maintained high concentration, so today's result is very good for the team,” Van Toan shared.

The draw at Ninh Binh's ground helped SHB Da Nang gain 4 points in the last two matches, thereby boosting motivation in the relegation journey. Van Toan said the whole team always strives hard in each match to improve its position on the standings. “We always encourage each other and try in every match, so that by the end of the season the team achieves the best possible ranking,” he said.

In the next round, SHB Da Nang will face Hoang Anh Gia Lai, a direct rival in the relegation race. With rising morale after a positive streak, Van Toan and his teammates expect to maintain focus to achieve favorable results.

Besides, the goalkeeper also humorously mentioned the interesting detail when coach Le Duc Tuan changed his shirt between halves. “I think everyone has their own secret. I don't know what the coach thought, but if it brings luck to the team, then it's a good thing,” Van Toan joked after the match.
