Rumors about Jurgen Klopp returning to coaching have continuously surfaced, forcing his agent to officially speak out.
After leaving Liverpool FC in 2024, Jurgen Klopp currently holds the role of Global Football Director for Red Bull GmbH. However, the German strategist is still frequently linked to major coaching positions in Europe. Amid the increasing wave of speculation, Klopp's agent had to speak up to clarify the situation.
Recently, international media have continuously mentioned the possibility of Klopp returning to coaching duties. Among them, the name mentioned most frequently is Real Madrid. The Royal club was reportedly considering Klopp after parting with Xabi Alonso in January, though they later decided to appoint former player Álvaro Arbeloa.
Besides Real Madrid, some sources also suggest Klopp could return to Liverpool to replace Arne Slot amid the Merseyside team's difficult season. Additionally, Spanish media mentioned the possibility of Atlético Madrid considering Klopp if they part with long-term coach Diego Simeone, who is entering his final contract year.
Faced with the dense rumors, Klopp's agent, Marc Kosicke, provided a clear response. He stated: “Jurgen Klopp is very happy with his current role at Red Bull, and what is being said about negotiations to lead Real Madrid is merely rumor at this moment.” This statement aims to end speculation about Klopp quickly returning to the coaching bench.
Kosicke also denied information suggesting Klopp might switch to coaching a national team ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026. He emphasized: “There is no need to answer questions about matters that are only rumors. Up to this point, no one has contacted us.” This affirmation indicates there are currently no formal negotiations whatsoever.
Regarding Klopp himself, he has repeatedly admitted he is enjoying his time working at Red Bull, where he oversees the multi-club system including RB Leipzig, New York Red Bulls, and Paris FC. The new role allows the German strategist a lighter workload compared to the pressures of coaching.
Speaking to media earlier this year, Klopp said: “I am at a stage where, as a person, I am completely satisfied with where I stand. I don't want to be anywhere else.” He also candidly stated: “At this moment I would say no, but I cannot say ‘never’.”
In another interview, Klopp noted that his time at Red Bull helps him learn many new things beyond coaching expertise. “I have met many people I previously did not know. I attend many business meetings and learn terms I had never heard before. After just one year, it feels like I have accumulated five years of experience,” he shared.
Although rumors continue to appear in European media, statements from the agent and Jurgen Klopp himself show the German strategist remains satisfied with his role at Red Bull. At least at this moment, the possibility of him soon returning to the coaching bench remains a question mark.
